This
beautiful sealed and labelled gin bottle has been in my collection
for over 9 years, previously identified as displaying Birds of
Paradise in the pictorial seal and on the label. More
research has determined that the birds are in fact : Chinese
PHOENIX. |

The picture above, depicting 2 Chinese Phoenix and flowers, was taken during a recent visit to Vietnam. This symbol was displayed on a Temple in the ancient city of Hoi An, and bears a remarkable similarity to the adornment on the paper label of the REISS bottle. The PHOENIX is a powerful symbol intertwined in Vietnamese and Chinese culture, representing goodness and nobility, and its symbolism can be traced back over many centuries. |

<< PARADISE BIRD - "de Paradijsvogel" The paper label
displayed to the left clearly identifies a picture of a Bird of
Paradise and is a true replication of an existing South East
Asian species.
